Landscape painting in the studio

The Studio Artists are having waaaaaaaaaaay to much fun with fabric painting. We worked hard last Friday, painting then getting our fabric out in the sun to dry.
I'm washing up more broadcloth for us to play with this Friday.
Isn't this gorgeous? You paint your wet fabric with your selection of colors and then you "pinch" the fabric all over. You can do as many pinches as you want but the more you do the more highs and lows you get for the paint to settle into.
I'll be cutting this up to create flower petals for a future project.
I realize I should probably concentrate more on just a sky with clouds or a sunset but I get carried away with the paint. When I set my wet project outside to dry I really have no idea how much that paint and water is going to move around while it dries. I think that's why I enjoy the mystery of it.

When you look at these pieces of fabric try not to think of them as a finished piece. They are a first layer or perhaps just something that bits and pieces will be used in another project.
I'm looking forward to having a colorful stack of painted fabric to play with this winter.

  1. I love playing with the colors...try some cotton twill to make yourself a jacket of many colors! Riley is totally precious and I know she is going to college!!!!
