DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE CHALLENGE #2 - HANGING OUT THE LAUNDRY

Time for another DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE CHALLENGE.

This idea came about from seeing an exhibit at an art show. I posted some pictures from the show, back in March. This particular idea caught my fancy.

Pick a woman's story. Someone from history, someone from your family, maybe even you and create items to hang on the clothesline that will TELL THE STORY.

I see this as a four month project starting on Monday April 19
th and ending the end of August. I think the Third Monday of the month is a good day to post pictures of what we have done so far. What ever you want to share. Send the link to your blog to me and I'll post it on that Monday.

ANOTHER DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE CHALLENGE STARTING April 19th

Hanging out the laundry,
challenge

Participants use 3 feet of rope, that is used for clothes lines.
Attach as many clothespins to the line as you wanted.
Each clothes pin would have whatever the participant wanted to expose/hang.

Say, one clothespin had an old recipe card with a picture of your great Auntie that made those famous cookies, or maybe you wanted the clothesline to represent a famous woman from history and what might be hung up to represent her life.

I guess I'm curious as to what we might hang up on this line, instead of clean sheets and undies. Things that would speak to us and others about who we are or who the person was that we were representing. Does that make sense to you?

I can see one line with the hopes and dreams from a young girl to another by a battered woman.
OR
I can see one clothes line for Elizabeth the First.
OR
I can see one clothes line for Elvie Schroyer.

And so on.

  2. Can't wait to get home the end of the week, so I can do clue #5 in the blind challenge and also to start this wonderful, thought provoking challenge. A lot of thinking will go into this one, and it should be very interesting seeing see everyone's. This is just great Bea! I love things like this!

  5. This is an interesting challenge. Makes me miss my clothesline in Wisconsin--loved line dried sheets. Will sleep on the idea tonight and see what comes. I actually thought it would make an interesting valence for my bank of kitchen windows.

Right now I have all I can do to get my taxes filed for extension. :) Miss you

  6. wow, that's a weird one. I guess I'll just have to 'have a go' as I'm bewildered at the moment. Then I'm often bewildered so what's new? lol. xxx

  7. Oooh, Lucci is right! It would make a good valance and I haven't any in my sewing room so I could hang it there! But who will I choose? Hmmm... When you say it will begin on Monday, you do mean that is the day to begin working, yes? Because I don't even know if I should have my line up by then!
