Art Dolls= FULL WOLF MOON , OLD MOON, or MOON AFTER YULE

A couple of years ago, when I was active in the Yahoo group, Letterheads, I hosted a Art Doll swap based on the full moon names from Native America tribes. There were some very talented ladies in that group and we traded all the dolls we made. I received some gorgeous Art Dolls.
Today, my daughter is giving me a hard time because I didn't make TWO of mine, at the same time and keep one.
Because of this I thought I would try to do the entire year again.
On the last week of the month I will post the name of the next month's challenge. If you are up for playing along, make your art doll based on the Full Moon Native American name and post a picture of it on your blog. I will post the links for people to go take a look at your art doll.
It's more fun to do this as a group.
Also, this should end the "grief" I am getting about not having any of my art dolls around anymore.

The picture above is my Full Wolf Moon Art Doll. He's the one for January. So, if you are going to be playing you are getting a two month head start with the name.

In December I will post the list of the names for the year. That way if somebody is on a roll and wants to make theirs ahead of schedule they can.

Remember you are keeping your Art Doll. You can make it out of anything. That said, it should reflect the name of the full moon, for that month.

:)Bea You know what to do.......................go CREATE!

  2. Thanks Heather! The head is printed out on fabric. You can't see his body but I used a fur pile that makes him feel like a wolf.
That's his Shaman cape he is wearing. :)Bea

  3. Hi Bea! Your Wolf is REALLY cool,
but I'm sure he is in a good home.
Plus, twins don't like to be separated. This sounds like a huge challenge for a girl who got a D in home-ec. (my baked alaska kept me from failing) It is all I can do to sew ribbons on pointte shoes every month. But I love you, so I will try.

  4. Lisa, Lisa......Art dolls can be made of anything, clay, twigs, fabric, metal, cans.........As long as it reflects in some way the name of the full moon month.
YOU CAN DO THIS. And, I can't wait to see what you come up with. :)Bea

  7. Heather, while I was unpacking things for my new studio I found some more of my little "art dolls" that I had purchased over the years. These were dolls made for the little pioneer girls. One is a church doll, the clothespin dolls and a little straw broom dollie.
I'll take some pictures for you to see them. I thought of you when I was putting them out on display. :)Bea
