Marmalade

I picked up the paint yesterday at Home Depot. This morning before we went to breakfast we stopped at HD again and picked out a new rug for the guest room. It's a light beige, nothing exciting but hopefully it can be installed by Friday of next week. That would be nice because James and Caitlin will be sleeping in that room Friday night.
I needed another gallon of paint so John made me lunch and then went back to HD. Now, as much as he would LOVE to say he did me a big favor we all know how some people LOVE to spend time in the home repair stores.
He came back with the second gallon and a ceiling fan for the room.
I still have a wall or two to finish and it's taken me about four hours to get done what I have but it looks great and boy that Behr paint covers great. I only have to do one coat.
I was holding the paint chip sample next to the rug for John to see how pretty it was going to look when the HD guy helping us said, "Oh, look, it's the same color as the HD logo." sigh..............Well, the darkest shade is but this is three shades lighter.
I told James on the phone that I was painting the room a marmalade color and he said, "Oh...................orange."
I think it looks more like the colors from Santa Fe when we were out there.
It's got a wild west feel to it.
Of course, since our walls have been white for going on eight years this is a big deal for us, you know. :)

  1. I love this color, I have a half bath off my kitchen this color and my laundry room is a shade or two lighter. They are both on the same hallway. I have this cool stone tile with mica chips and marmalade natural stone in it in both rooms. Everyone always comments on how cool it is. I am sure this will be a wonderful guest room.

  2. Thank you. Your tile sounds beautiful. I wandered down the tile isle at HD and was amazed at all the different kinds they make now. :)Bea

You're preaching to the choir here... our hallway is "Sweet Carrot." Our kitchen is "Sweet Honey." It looks very rich and warm.

  4. You inspired me! lol I love those names. I remember the pictures you sent and how beautiful it looked. Right now I'm thinking about an art quilt for the room and my inspiration in the grid of flower pictures right below this posting. I think I want a big painted sunflower in the center with that beautiful blue morning glory trailing all around the border edges. Except I'm thinking about painting this whole thing or using stencils. :)Bea

We bought a reproduction print of a Georgia O'Keeffe painting - it is a big yellow sunflower with a blue background. It sounds like it would be perfect!

  7. Oh that is a warm, gorgeous colour Bea. When you said tangerine, I wasn't so sure but this is much softer, more Spainish walls. Lovely.
