Thursday morning and it's COLD!

There is a Zen story that says, you have to pour out the old tea in the cup before you fill it up with the fresh.
My oven is clean. The broken glass is safely stored in a shoebox labeled Broken Blue Glass. What? You thought I would just throw that away? That's beautiful stuff for some art project.
I had an email from a dear friend that said she had the book, had tried the recipe, used a metal pan but when her bread was done her baking stone was cracked 3/4 of the way through.
We agreed that perhaps steam isn't the way to go. She just brushes the top of her bread with water before she puts it in the oven. I think I will try that way tonight.
If you have any helpful suggestions please do leave a comment.

I am declaring that today is the last day of temperatures in the low 20's. Enough is enough. I'm watching the Bluebirds go in and out of the bird houses so I feel confident that Spring is very close. Of course, if you live in the Washington DC area could you let me know when Spring arrives there because we always seem to be two weeks behind you.
