I was reading some blogs, the other day, when I saw in a list of that person's favorite blog reads the name of an old friend from Zettiland. So, now on the right hand side you will see an addition to my blog favorites, Susie's Muse. Susie had challenged herself to create a pointy flag a day. I admire her gumption. She offers the challenge to anyone else interested. Well, I'm interested, I love flags, especially pointy flags, which remind me of Zetti hats, upside down.
I also know myself well and a flag a day isn't going to happen. It's much ambitious for the likes of me.
I've decided to try for one a week. That's doable, maybe. I certainly had fun making the one for this week. Now, when I have time and energy I only have to make 8 more to catch up to the 1st of the year. sigh
I've decided to do them in different sizes as per Susie. I've also decided to do them in different mediums.
This flag is a crazy quilt one. I have a box of orphan blocks that I found when cleaning up the studio. I plan to use them for art dolls or journal covers but picking out this bright cheerful block seemed like a perfect flag.
Of course, the buttons were still on the work table from the art journal spine I made last week. Not so good on the clean up and put away part of making art. :(
I did make a front and back to my flag because I'm not sure yet how I am going to hang them. I know I want them in the new studio when ever it's finished. I'm just not sure if they will hang flat against the wall or crisscross the high ceiling.
I think I needed to work with the bright cheerful colors because I am feeling so much better today. The sky is blue, the snow is starting to disappear from the rain and the ice is melting, on the driveway. Oh good things to celebrate. Oh, and John has thoroughly enjoyed the UNbirthday cake I made the other day. He tells me I should go with my quirks more often.
I have this image of these little "quirks" with long striped necks and multicolored feathers following me around. Hmmm, a possible flag?
