Time just flies by.....

I've been working in my fabric studio for the entire week. That's working on cleaning it up and organizing it. Not working IN IT, which is what I would much rather be doing.
I realized the only way to tackle the project was to pull everything stacked on the floor, in piles, out to the hallway. Once the hallway was full I had to work around what was still left. I told you this was a mess.
Apparently, January is my month to take a look at my past, see what needs to be worked on, in the future, what needs to be let go of, what needs to be forgiven and where and what do I want to do in the future.
Lots of things to think about for one little month.
The album project for my mother started this reflective clean up. The studio is doing the same type of thing.
Before I started I jotted down a list of projects that I wanted to work on. Things that had caught my attention in the past year and I thought would be fun to learn or try. Then I took a hard look at the arrangement of my studio. I know how I like to work, I know what things in the room haven't been used or have been used for a different purpose like storage of things not put away. For example, that cutting table. The side leaves were propped up with stacks of plastic containers of fabric. Difficult to get to the fabric without the table leaves falling down. I didn't really even use it for cutting. I kept a mat by my machine. So, out of the room it went.
Going around the room looking at each item I made an executive decision of whether it would stay or go. I went out and bought the shelving that I liked, that was easy to put together without pulling my hair out.
I didn't sort through things at this point but made certain areas "stations".
I now have a table that I can set up my felting machine. I've had that machine for a while and just haven't had the space or time to even give it a try.
Unfortunately, the hallway is still a mess but I've given myself until the end of January to get this whole project done. I didn't make the mess in one week so it's unrealistic to think I'm going to clean it up in one week. Well, maybe if I had help from those wonderful TV teams of organizers.
I'll be posting pictures when I'm through.
I hope you like the new look for the blog. I had some fun playing with the new design. The header photo is a sunset picture from my trip to St. John's last year. I also added some gadgets, if you would like your photo to appear as a follower of my blog just click on that link and it will walk you through what you have to do. I often use a picture of Murphy when I'm asked to post a picture.
There is also a slide show of some other sunset photographs I have taken. If you click the picture you will be directed to a much larger slide show screen which is even nicer to view the photos. Have fun and thanks for stopping by!

Beautiful! I was wondering what kept you so busy today.

  2. Thank you! I had to do something creative between moving stacks of fabric around. Thanks for stopping by! :)Bea
