Amazon.com: Life is a verb: Books
If you have hung around here enough you have heard me mention my TWENTY SUMMERS philosophy. If not, here it is simply stated......I turned 60 this year. God or Goddess willing if I am lucky I will have 20 Wisconsin summers left. Anything over that is gravy anything shorter could be sad.
If you live in a northern climate like Wisconsin you know that summer is very short and we tend to try to pack in as much as possible before the weather changes and we live in cold, ice and snow. If you are an outdoor person you get 20 Wisconsin winters, nice and long. For the other's of us who only enjoy seeing winter through double glazed windows, well.........
Anywho, yesterday while in the bookstore I saw a book that caught my attention. First because it has a little Zetti angel girl on the cover and I know a Zetti angel girl when I see it and secondly it said 37 Days to Wake Up. Be Mindful. And live Intentionally. Three things I couldn't have said better.
Of course, the book came home with me! I suspect that I may even have some of Patti Digh's art work. I see some of her ATC cards pictured in the book and they look familiar but that's NOT the reason I bought the book.
I sat down with it and had a cup of Chai Latte Grande in memory of my dear friend, Shar and looked through the book.
This is a Get Going kind of book.
This is a workbook with thoughts, ideas, suggestions and beautiful artwork.
This is a must for all of us.
All of us understand that this day, this moment is all we really get and all the memories of the past moments and days until our memory goes.
We really do get it but I'm afraid that most of us don't truly LIVE IT.
We get so bogged down in survival mode that we honestly believe that's all there is. I understand times are difficult, too.
What if you were told you really had only 37 more days to live? For real?
As she writes in her book, "If I had thirty-seven days left, would I spend my time cleaning the attic, purging computer files, or attending committee meetings? Would I have passed on my stories to my children and friends, or would I spend those days regretting not having time to do so? Am I living fully now, or am I waiting until after the kids leave for college or my annuity matures or the Colts move back to Baltimore? It will be too late then."
So, as the new year approaches treat yourself to this inspirational book.
You can buy a used copy for as little as under $9.00.
