Phlox are one of my favorite spring wild flowers. They seem to pop up in all sorts of different places each year. I can see a solid grouping along the edge of the woods. I just love the lavender, purple, white and pale pink colors.

I took a walk up to the edge of the woods yesterday. We missed our spring opportunity to work on cutting a path into the woods. Now, it's thick with brambles but when I peeked into the woods the Phlox were thick, like a carpet on the floor.

Next year I hope the weather cooperates and we can get into the woods in early April to cut some trails.
Oh, by the way, it looks like the annual arrival of those skinny looking pink birds has come. Funny how they show up each year.
